"Electric
Heat is Clean, Neat and Can’t Be Beat."
ELECTRIC
HEAT INSTALLATIONS
For
the past several years our records indicate that the number of "all electric"
homes being built by SouthEastern members is outpacing homes with other
types of heat by a margin of five to one.
This
growth can be attributed to a number of reasons, including the convenience,
cleanliness, reliability and comfort level of the new generation of heat
pumps, especially the geo-thermal heat pump which is very adapt at maintaining
a superior level of comfort, despite the constant fluctuation in air temperature
we experience in Southern Illinois.
Geo-thermal
systems are exceptionally quiet since there is no outside air exchanger
and in addition, these units can supply up to 60% of a home’s water heating
requirements when operating in the cooling mode.
SouthEastern
provides a member rebate of $400.00 on each installed geo-thermal
system. Please contact Brenda Tanner at 1-800-833-2611, Extension
170 for additional information.
ELECTRIC
HEAT RATE
For
several decades SouthEastern has offered a special incentive rate for homes
with electric space heating. To qualify for the all-electric "AH"
rate, members must use electricity as the primary source of space heating
within their homes. In addition, all of the home’s appliances must
be electric, including the range, water heater, refrigerator, clothes dryer
and air conditioner.
Homes
with wood or gas fireplaces used primarily for decorative or backup purposes,
and homes equipped with electric heat pumps that use propane or natural
gas as the unit’s auxiliary are eligible for the all electric rate, provided
all other home appliances are electric.
Members
converting their homes from gas heat and appliances to an "All-Electric"
status should contact the Cooperative for an appointment with a SouthEastern
representative, who will visit the property to verify adequate service
capacity and appliance installation.
In
short, "Electric heat is clean, neat and can’t be beat."
